How are you taking care of yourself? While I am working from home, during my breaks, I am taking walks with my dog, Angus, working outside in the garden, eating healthy food, drinking water, keeping social distancing, sleeping well. One of my goals is to remember to get up and move my body during the day. As you know, when we are all at school, I don't spend very much time in front of the computer! My body wants to move!
Here are some fun facts about me:
First of all - I love my job because I get to help the students and families of Robert L Stevens School, I get to be part of a great community, and I get to team with the fantastic teaching and support staff of RLS! I always wanted to work with children and I have always been curious about people and wanting to be a helper. Being a School Counselor is my dream job!
More fun facts:
I love animals! I have a whole barnyard, including 23 chickens, three dogs (Angus, Lola, and Sultan), two cats (Summ and Maggie), one very playful pigmy goat (Flo) and a mini donkey (Luca).
I love to vacation near water, because I love to swim.
I like to garden and grow vegetables and flowers. I also like to hike around in the beauty of Sonoma County, especially with all of our wonderful regional parks.
I have two daughters that inspire and motivate me to be the very best person I can be. They make me proud to be their "Mama".
My mom and dad immigrated from Germany just before I was born. The first language I spoke was German. I learned to speak English when I started school in Kindergarten, so I know what it's like to learn a new language! Sometimes it is easier to understand what people are saying and harder to speak up with confidence.
I proudly earned my Master's Degree in Counseling from Sonoma State University in 2012, 25 years after earning my Bachelor's Degree in accounting in 1987, also from Sonoma State University (my first career was as a Certified Public Accountant). I also got my Associates of Arts (AA) degree from Santa Rosa Junior College in 1985. This just goes to show I am a life-long learner and I never give up on dreams or hard work!
